We learned their names in school: Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, Vasco de Gama, Amerigo Vespucci, Ferdinand Magellan, Francis Drake & others. They sailed to the ends of the world. Cape Horn, at the southern tip of South America, where the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans meet, is also known as the “End of the World”. Travel Trivia: It was named for the birthplace of Dutch navigator Willem Schouten, who rounded it in 1616. Plenty of travelers have sailed around it since then (including me).

Round the Horn
Earlier this year, Margot & David embarked on an epic journey, a Grand Getaway, sailing around South America starting in Brazil, then on to Argentina & Uruguay with arcs out to the Falkland Islands & Antarctica before sailing up the coast of Chile.

Cause for Celebration
Mahalo nui loa to everyone who shared my Island Getaways 25th Anniversary Sailabration (postponed from May 2022) on board the Celebrity Solstice sailing from Los Angeles to Astoria, OR & Victoria, B.C., ending in Vancouver, Canada.
A great time was had by all! Don’t say you weren’t invited. Next time come with me/us on a Group Getaway.

While I’m traveling, I often volunteer to take photos for others, especially couples & families so they can be together in the shot. Usually behind the camera, I rely on strangers for photos of me. A fellow traveler named Renee took this candid shot WHILE I was taking someone else’s picture! (That’s why I’m laughing).
